The pulper impeller is a key component used in the pulp preparation process. Pulp preparation usually includes two main steps: mechanical pulping and chemical pulping, and the pulper impeller is mainly used in mechanical pulping.
The pulper impeller is a rotating component, usually made of metal material, that is located inside the pulper. It has a series of blades or vanes that are designed and arranged to help break down raw materials, such as wood or waste paper, into fibers.
As the pulper impeller rotates, it interacts with the pulp mixture and mechanically breaks the raw material into fibers. The blades or vanes of the impeller shred and shear the fiber bundles in the pulp, separating them. This results in a suspension of fibers in water, which is pulp.
The design and construction of the pulper impeller can be adjusted to different pulp preparation requirements. For example, the shape, number and layout of blades can affect pulping effectiveness, fiber separation efficiency and energy consumption. Pulp mills typically select the appropriate pulper impeller based on the required pulp quality and production efficiency.
